Mössbauer, X-ray near edge and X-ray diffraction studies on Cu-Ni ferrites
Abstract
In the present paper, the study on the Cu1-xNix Fe2O4 (x= 0.00, 0.05, 0.10) samples has been carried out. These samples were synthesized by the solid-state root method. The samples have been analyzed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Mössbauer spectroscopy and X-ray absorption near edge spectroscopy (XANES). XRD analysis revealed single phase and tetragonal structure of samples, while Mössbauer spectroscopy showed how to determine the site preference of the substitution and their effect on the hyperfine magnetic field. The X-ray near edge (XANES) technique has been used to determine oxidation state of copper and it also gives very precise information about the parameters like chemical shift. The structural knowledge and magnetic properties of materials have also been interpreted using the two other techniques mentioned in the present paper. The XAFS spectra have been recorded at the Dispersive EXAFS beamline (BL-8) at Indus-2 synchrotron radiation source, RRCAT, Indore, India. The normalized μ (E) data is obtained for all samples at the K absorption edge of Cu-Ni ferrites.
